BATMAN
i love batman!!!!!! it's my current hyperfix ₍ >ヮ<₎
my faves r batman + joker ♡♡♡♡♡ i love them soooo much they both have so many issues
they r both just such interesting characters 2 me!!!!!! they have so much depth and conflict throughout their incredibly long (over 80 year!!!) history that it has created such an interesting and complex relationship between the two of them. it's a dysfunctional love/hate enemyship where they each seem to define the other in some way. they are opposites yet the same and they COMPLETE each other (quoting the joker here (。•̀ᴗ-)✧) and i just want them to have a SINGLE DEEP CONVERSATION WITH EACH OTHER. MY GOD. OPEN UP TO EACH OTHER.
literally the entire dc universe would be saved if they hotboxed the batmobile together oh my god.
i also want to make some extra sections about other things because i do like batman outside of batjokes lolz

BATMAN THINGS IVE SEEN + HOW I RATE THEM !!
THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE (2017): 11/10
masterpiece. this is genuinely such a good film it's insane. they put their entire souls into this film it is so insanely good!!!!!!!!! it's an incredibly creative film with absolutely gorgeous animation that works almost as a parody of itself, satirical of the batman series yet also celebrating it, with incredible attention to detail in all of the references and callbacks to other pieces of batman media. the film is pulling out something new every ten seconds and it is just chock full with humour. additionally, it actually explores quite an adult narrative for a kids movie; it's a typical 'power of friendship/found family' type story, however using the framing of batman, bruce wayne, a man terrified of having a family again because he is too scared to lose them and feel that pain again. he's lonely, repressing himself, keeping others at arms length; 'his own worst enemy', as joker puts it. i find that this portrayal of batman honestly goes into more depth of his character and his vulnerabilities than pretty much any of the other feature films he is in, whilst also balancing multiple other narratives. [want to write more abt it being a comedy + parody of itself allowing it to explore batman in more depth, + joker and he's relationship]
i hope whoever cancelled the sequel DIES
batjokes? YES so much. so so so much. this is a batjokes romcom genuinely and truly it's amazing and wonderful.
THE DARK KNIGHT: 10/10
masterpiece but also a comedy. heath ledger's joker performance is legendary for a reason, he brought everything he could to the table for one of the most memorable performances in cinmatic history. this film has an incredibly tightly written script and has so many iconic moments. it's so fun. god christian bale's batman needs to get that stick out his ass tho he's so boringly heterosexual. live a little. great fucking film tho. slayed. YOU COMPLETE ME........ also god i wish this film were shot with batman 2022's cinematography. would be the best film ever made ever
batjokes? YES, little from bruce's side but contains iconic moments like "you complete me" and the ever so legendary "i think we're destined to do this forever"
THE KILLING JOKE (comic): 9/10
incredible work of comic art here. whoever wrote the script for the film version is going to hell and so are the people who claim that batman killed him at the end of the comic. "it's the killing joke so obviously he kills him at the end!!!1!" NO HE FUCKING DOESNT ARE YOU DUMB? DID YOU READ THE COMIC? the killing joke is the absurdity of their situation, the joke is that they are on a suicide course together, mutually assured destruction. the joke is what joker tells batman at the end, telling him that he couldn't be rehabilitated; he can't make it across the beam of light, not just because it's physically impossible, but because he cannot trust batman to not turn it off halfway across. he can't trust batman to save him, because batman is just like him, one of the lunatics, he just has a support system to fall back on. god the last part of that comic is so immense. i wish we hadmore kind of 'heart to heart' moments like this between batman and joker in the comics, because it's so so poignant.
batjokes? YES so much. so much. not explicitly romantic but it just delves so interestingly into their relationship and is so poignant in the way it shows the parallels between them.
BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES (1990): 10/10
come on man. it's batman the animated series. this show is incredibly good and nigh the bible for general batman understanding amongst the populus (and myself lol). an incredibly well made and entertaining show, and an absolute nostalgia filled classic
batjokes? maybe crumbs but not really. btas is very much a general batman show rather than a batjokes adventure.
BATMAN: THE AUDIO ADVENTURES: 9/10
batman podcast. the batman archives? this audio series is 10 episodes, 2 free and the other 8 available on hbo max (or on fmoviesto.cc lol). it's a batman series drawing inspiration from the '66 series, using a comedic tone with inredibly enjoyable and surprisingly accurate character writing, so far pulling on multiple members of the rogue gallery (two-face, riddler, catwoman, joker) with great success. enjoying it very much so far and ALSOOOOO wow the batjokes. wow . the end of the second episode?????? a valentines day gift??????????? im dying over here omfg
will write more once i finish listening :D
oh yeah this is fucking incredible lol
ok something i really like about this is two face’s characterisation; i havent really watched much that involved him besides B:TAS and the dark knight (finding him mid in the former and well acted but with unrealistic motivations in the latter), yet this portrayal that emphasises his mental illness and previous close friendship with bruce is a lot more compelling for me.
ok i finished it! incredibly good. amazingly funny yet also managing to nail moments of tension and panic incredibly well, creating a feeling of suspense yet also managing to pull out intense laughs (just like a certain someone), this show was much better than i could've ever imagined and im SO glad it has 10 episodes. i love a more comedic and campy take on batman that acknowledges the ridiculous nature of the universe and the characters and revels in that, yet also isn't afraid to take moments completely seriously. i really wnjoys this series!! definitely recommend it
batjokes? YES!!!!! episode 2 and 10 in particular; the joker's bit plot takes place on valentines day, he leaves a gift to bruce saying 'be mine', has a beautiful speech about their dance, their waltz.... spectacular performance
BATMAN UNBURIED: 8/10, 9 depending on ending(?)
this is slaying so hard. like hannibal and the magnus archives had a baby and called it bruce wayne.
batjokes? no, the joker isnt involved
HARLEY QUINN SHOW: 9/10
it's so funny why's it so fucking funny
batjokes? aye aye captain, not main feature but is there. but also oh my god joker is so loathable in this lmao (as he honestsly should be lol)
- batman 2022: 8/10, insanely good cinematography
- europa: 5/10, good art mid writing good batjokes
- white knight:5/10, good art mid writing good batjokes
- lego batman 1 + lego batman 2: 7/10, 8/10
- want to discuss but not rate #48verse
- batman '66 series + film: 7/10
- also write list of what u wanna watch next,
- the other old batman films,
- joker 2019: 8/10
- the telltale games (but only the bjokes parts lmao): 6/10, love the take on joker v fresh + interesting
- three jokers: 6/10, concept makes 0 sense but actually has surprisingly good character writing????? weird
BATMAN CHARACTER ANALYSIS:
my favourite repressed man. he took the sobbing 8 year old from that alleyway and locked him up deep inside, preserved for the rest of time. trauma kept in pristine condition. and the way that this affects his character is fascinating.
JOKER CHARACTER ANAYLSIS:
the joker
BATMAN + JOKER TOGETHER: THEIR DYNAMIC!
ok so batman and the joker. wow. wow. they are just So Much. their relationship has spanned 80+ years of work and that in itself creates so much depth, so many different interpretations of their dynamic.
what it really comes down to is codependency. hating each other yet needing each other. the moral complexity of it and how it reflects on their characters, especially on bruce. to repeatedly save the life of a mass murderer who will surely go on to kill again.
NAHHHH BABES IT'S THE COSMIC BOND
bjokes fic recs :0
repetitio est mater studiorum by distortopia
possibly the best batjokes fic ive ever read; this fic has incredibly comicverse accurate characterisation, understanding the deep complex relationship of the characters and their philosophies, paired with a timeloop scenario which forces bruce into a situation where he actually has to take a step back and consider his relationship to the joker and talk to him about it. read this in one sitting and was on the egde of my seat the whole time. amazing character study work.
scenes from retirement by Dracze and mitzvahmelting
this fic is just so fun. i want them to be 60 year old men together in a cabin so bad
We Don't Need No Stars by AshToSilver
a
Curse/Blessing series by DesdemonaKaylose
the ouorboros....... that description of their relationship, especially in tandem to repetitio est mater studiorum listed above, got me so bad. it's the cosmic element to their relationship, the mythic element; the continuous tale of batman vs the joker, a fight binding them together til the end of time, and this fic series exemplifies that perfectly.
Joker's a Thirsty Bitch.series by Ringshadow
this is just incredibly funny and enjoyable
